There a quite a few common issues with leather matieral furniture that we frequently see in our daily scheduled services. We tend to forget that leather material is an animal skin and much like our own skin, it requires proper care and preventative measures in order to keep it looking “healthy”.
Consistent sun exposure through a window or glass door will always lead to a bleached or discolored appearance, the only preventative measure is either covering or closing blinds to limit sun rays.
Surprisingly enough, dog saliva can also bleach the leather color out of the material. We are very familiar with our family dog consistently licking the same spot on our leather couch and to no surprise we had discoloration.
Like mentioned above, any type of animal skin acts similar to our own. If you notice the headrest area of your favorite recliner or spot of your sofa begins darkening that typically means it has been absorbing our skins oils or hair products over time. This usually can be fixed, but the sooner it is addressed the better results we can guarantee!
